Pseudoparasites
When we check an animal’s feces for parasite eggs sometimes we see some interesting things. Especially this time of year when pets are outside and sniffing around lots of different plants. Pseudoparasites are objects or organisms that look like and can be mistaken for dog or cat parasites. These organisms have been ingested by the pet and will not multiply or cause harm. Some of the pseudoparasites we have found are: pine pollen, fungal spores,pollen grains and plant hairs. Here are some photos:
